Porcupine

We met a spiny rodent yesterday while heading to one of the beaches in Nepean National Park. Yes, a Porcupine!

It was a creepy creature busy digging the sand to find some food. I had heard that Porcupines have a coat of sharp spines to fight its predators but got to experience this fact only yesterday!

We were surprised to meet this little fellow exactly at the same place as we returned after our site seeing. Maybe he was down on luck yesterday!

Point Nepean National Park

Today we spent our day in one of Victoria's most beautiful landscapes called Point Nepean. We had planned this outing just to enjoy the natural beauty of the surrounding region but the visit was much more interesting than we thought because of its historical significance! This park covered a total area of 560 hectares and was located at the southern most tip of Melbourne city with an outstanding coastal scenery. The park had military forts and tunnels with its rich history dating back to the 1880's.
The first spot that we visited after reaching the national park was the observatory point where we took a beach walk enjoying the blue shades of the Pacific. The sight was simply refreshing!
We took a hop on hop off shuttle service to explore the different points in the national park.
We went to Fort Nepean which gave a stunning view of Port Phillip and Bass Strait. The fort had a number of rooms which were bomb proof and it was impressive to see the gun emplacements and the firing mechanisms that were used in the World War I. We also saw the place from where allied shots were fired for both World War I and II.
We then visited the Cheviot Hill and the Harold Holt Memorial. The Cheviot Hill was the park's highest point and gave a breathtaking view of the ocean. It overlooked the Cheviot Beach from where the former Australian Prime Minister Harold Holt disappeared while he was swimming and no traces of him were found even after a continued search which lasted for 3 days!
On our way back, we saw the London Bridge (which is basically a eroded rock structure amidst the ocean waters).
It was a hectic one day trip with lots of points to visit but undoubtedly rich in scenic beauty and history!

Funday Sunday!

We had our friends Anusha and Vishwesh come over to our house to enjoy the weekend. It was fun to catch up after a long time followed by a delicious lunch of Pav Bhaji(our all time favorite) and some side dishes.
In the evening we went for a nice walk on the Yarra Scenic Trail. Following the winding track along the river we noticed the call of parrots and few other birds which felt soo soothing. People had set off for kayaking to enjoy the perfect weather!
We all had a good time and planned for  outings that we could go on with lots of exciting activities and festivals around the corner!

Birthday Memories!

On my birthday this year, my younger sister Soniya surprised me with a cool personalized gift! She coordinated with family and friends requesting them to pen down the memorable moments/incidences that they had with me in the form of handwritten(preferably)/printed letters. She bundled them in a beautifully decorated box which when opened gave an illusion of my room. She created the illusion by sticking pictures of the room on the four sides of the box. I was completely startled by this idea!
As it was a parcel, Praveen had a tough time keeping it a secret from me. The hiding business was a bit irritating for him but I surely dint get a clue of the arrived parcel till 12 midnight! There were 34 letters that I received and as I scanned through each of them it was dawn already!
My grandparents and parents had written down incidences of my childhood which I dint even know till date and it was great fun to know how I was. Family friends had mentioned of the fun times that we had on trips and get-togethers'. Friends wrote on the crazy time spent together at school, college and at work.
I really feel glad to have a sister and husband who planned and gifted me a precious present which was a collection of the golden moments that I spent with family and friends!

Why are we not laughing, huh?

With the never ending chores to be completed for the day, do you anytime ask this question to yourself? I feel myself lucky enough to be in the company of a tiny tot who reminds me to laugh out and enjoy the small moments that I spend with him! He has a keen observation over my body language and if I dont laugh or pretend to laugh as we play, he doesn't spare one chance to say "Why are we not laughing, huh?"

Agile Surgery

I came across this meme today morning and it made a good start of my day. The first thing that seeked my attention was the horrifying look on the patient's face!! How true, I would have been equally or rather more petrified than that guy there....
For those of you who are from a non-IT background, might be wondering what's the joke??!!! The term 'Agile' is a methodology used for project development in the IT industry where the project evolves as an end product in a number of phases/iterations. Each developed iteration is then sent to the client to know for any flaws or improvements that could be worked on in the next phase. The artist has perfectly blended the terminology into a surgery scenario making it humorous and conveying the intended message!
With almost all verticals of the current market heavily investing in real time analytics and constantly upgrading their information systems, I dont see this day too far away to be a reality!!
